Black love. Real chemistry. Complicated people.
Love can be funny, frustrating, and worth the trouble. Corey L. Johnson writes contemporary Black romance about people figuring it out, with sharp humor, slow-building chemistry, and lives that don’t pause just because someone falls in love.
Based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Corey centers Black women and Black relationships in stories that leave room for ambition, vulnerability, family, and the choices that make love complicated.
The stories
Corey’s romance puts Black couples at the center of the story. The attraction matters, but so do the conversations, the history, and the decisions that come after it. His characters have careers, opinions, and something to lose. They can get in their own way and still have you rooting for them.
If you enjoy slow-burn tension, enemies-to-lovers chemistry, and grown-up relationships with room for laughter, start with Into You.
